We wish we knew about Dave earlier. We're very pleased with his approach and delivery. Without question we will pass Dave's name along. Thank you Dave!

Dave has clearly explained calculus concepts and I am more comfortable with the work. Grades are turning around and I am showing more confidence in this subject.

Daughter having problems with understanding the concepts behind the physics problems, leading to significant delays and her ability to tackle the problem approach. Dave is excellent at explaining the concepts and helping her break down the approach. She is the type of student that needs to understand the "why" before she gets to the "how" and Dave is very good at both!

Dave really takes time to drill into a student's misconceptions so that they can have a solid foundation for success in mathematics.

Dave was patient while helping my daughter get a head start with calculus. After just one session, my daughter was able to gain understanding of concepts she had begun to struggle with in the first few weeks of school and prepare her for her first exam.

We hired Dave to help him get my son through a really tough online trigonometry class. The truth is we were despairing of getting it done by the deadline. My son said that Dave has a gift of breaking everything down for him. He said his book only gave formulas, but Dave was able to give examples for everything. Honestly, I was going to have Dave for just one session and then try someone a little less expensive, but I think it was such a worthwhile investment. He was able to cover so much so quickly, and my son understood everything! I highly recommend him--as does my son.

When my son finished his recent lesson with Dave, he seemed very positive. He told me to make sure I set up our next appointment right away. He was excited about a new shortcut he learned from

Dave to help with his homework. I've never seen my son this excited about a tutor before. I am so happy!!

Dave is a wonderful tutor for my daughter. He shows thorough knowledge of the material, demonstrates lots of patience, and prepares her for tests and quizzes. I would highly recommend Dave.

Dave knows his stuff and is patient about getting it across to the student. Easy to work with. We strongly recommend!

We have only seen Dave a couple time, but he has very quickly realized my daughters fundamental knowledge gaps and is working with her, in a positive way, to correct them. I really like the way he wants to make sure that my daughter is engaged and feels ownership of her progress.

My sophomore has an AP Calculus A/B teacher who runs the class like a college seminar - wholly inappropriate for high school students who are well capable of handling the material but still require actually being taught. In just a couple of sessions, Dave

has been able to help her understand the concepts and why she is doing what she is doing, rather than just memorizing steps and formulas. She is becoming more confident, seeing that she is able to complete problems at an "AP Test pace" (< 2 minutes per question),

and is sure we will be seeing improving assessment results soon. Dave's philosophy that the student has to take ownership of their education and buy in to the tutoring is right on the money. From a practical point of view, Dave responded promptly to our initial

inquiry, has been generous with his time getting us comfortable with his background and why he felt he could help in our situation, and has been punctual for scheduled lessons.

Dave is very patient and detail oriented. He answers questions completely and is very concerned that my son understand each problem. He is extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and prompt. I would highly recommend him.

Dave S. is a very patient teacher. He listens and learns the student's thought process, bridging the gap so often encountered by student/teacher communication.

I thought learning Algebra was beyond my ability, but Dave managed to explain and show me that I could do it, and do it well. He is very prompt and comes prepared with the needed material. Dave S. is a professional that goes the extra mile. I highly recommend Dave S. as a tutor.

Dave has been absolutely great with my daughter. He is very patient and explains mathematical concepts that are understandable for her. He is a great Math tutor and well worth the price.

Dave was great with showing my son some easy and basic concepts so my son could better understand the lessons being taught at school. Dave is a great communicator and made it enjoyable for my son to sit and learn nothing but Algebra II for an hour. Highly recommended.

Dave is a professional who possesses a knack for finding, quite quickly, where the student's needs lie. He gets right to work but also is friendly and kind therefore immediately placing our son at ease.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Over the past twenty years, I have successfully helped hundreds of students prepare for the math portion of the ACT, SAT, and PRAXIS exams. Some of these student have achieved perfect (or near perfect) scores!

I am a Delaware certified, highly qualified, math teacher with more than twenty years of experience teaching (and tutoring) a wide variety of math subjects (including algebra 1).

Calculus is a branch of math that involves two new operators: the derivative, and its inverse, the integral. The derivative is analogous to the slope of a line (from algebra) and the integral is the area under a curve.

I have been tutoring calculus at the high school and college levels for over fifteen years.

My chess experience began when I was a child. In high school, I was the first seat of the chess team. My experience continued through college and beyond. This experience includes teaching many persons how to play chess.

I have a PhD from Carnegie-Mellon University in electrical engineering, control systems.

Over my career in industry, I have led numerous software development projects. I am a Delaware certified computer science teacher with more than ten years experience.

I have also taught several computer engineering courses as an adjunct professor.

I have taken numerous college courses dealing with discrete mathematics. My Ph.D. thesis involves solving a set of simultaneous partial difference equations with boundary values. I used discrete math concepts to solve several projects I worked on in industry. In fact I earned a US patent for one of those solutions.

I have a PhD from Carnegie-Mellon University in electrical engineering.

I have also tutored and taught several college courses for electrical engineering including a review course for the EIT portion of the Professional Engineering license.

I am certified in Delaware to teach computer science. I have taught computer application courses for over ten years at the Charter School of Wilmington. I have worked with computers in industry for over twenty years, and led numerous software development projects.

Geometry is a branch of math concerned with points, lines, angles, shapes, and space (on a plane). It also develops skills such as logic, reasing, and proofs. Many students have a hard time with geometry because it is more visual than their previous math studies.

I have been tutoring high school geometry for over twenty years.

I have using Microsoft Excel since it first came out for Apple's Macintosh computers. I have formally taught Excel (on Windows) since the mid 90's to both high school and college students.

I continue to use Excel in my own work to organize and analyze data.

I have using Microsoft Word since it first came out for Apple's Macintosh computer. I have formally taught Word (on Windows) since the mid 90's to both high school and college students.

Most recently I have taught a semester courses of Digital Photography (I and II) to high school students.

I have taken and very easily passed the Praxis exam. I have also prepared several students to take this exam. I view the Praxis as similar to (but perhaps easier than) both the SAT and ACT tests.

I have successfully helped hundreds of students prepare for the math portions of the SAT, as well as the ACT, and Praxis exams. Some of these students have achieved perfect (or near-perfect) scores!

I am currently teaching an SAT math preparation course, and have taught several SAT math preparation courses in the past.
