The Pennsylvania State University (Elementary Education)
I am an elementary teacher, originally from Central Pennsylvania. I have experience in K-6 classrooms, in addition to a plethora of experience as a reading aid for a nationwide program. Currently, I am a Fourth Grade teacher in a local school district, where I teach in an inclusion classroom with 30 students.
I have always had a love of educating, and made my career decision in First Grade. The feeling of helping others uncover their joy of learning has been a driving force in all of my educating endeavors. My goal as an educator and a tutor is to help students love learning by teaching them how to think, rather than what to think. I have experience as an after-school tutor in Pennsylvania, as well as daily experience with Common Core curriculum and individualized differentiating that allows all learners to comprehend what is needed to meet grade level standards, and beyond.
I am highly qualified as an Elementary Math tutor as I teach Elementary Math, aligned with Common Core Standards, on a daily basis. I have taught math from a Kindergarten to an advanced 6th Grade middle school level, and everything in between. I also have a whole "tool belt" full or mnemonic devices, wraps, and songs to ensure that students understand and remember things such as rounding and solving proportions. I thoroughly enjoy making math a whole-brained item, including song and physical movement into lessons when at all possible. I am an elementary teacher, originally from Central Pennsylvania. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
