Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

C#

I was trained in college in C++, the precursor to C#. For the last three years I have exclusively developed in Visual Basic and C# for a regional bank. I have also completed the Microsoft Virtual Academy C# Jump Start program.

Computer Programming

I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I have spent 18 years developing applications in the government and business sectors. I have also taught basic programming courses to 4-H members (kids and teens).

HTML

I have taught several classes at the corporate level on web page design. I have also taught youth through our 4-H County Clubs program. All this is backed by 18 years experience and completing several courses at Microsoft Virtual Academy to make sure I am working with the latest information.

JavaScript

I have worked on numerous professional web development projects which required JavaScript in the last 8 years. I am also familiar with a number of JavaScript libraries including Prototype, JQuery, and MooFX. I also have experience working with Google Earth/Maps API.

I have trained youth and adults on basic programming courses for web development, including JavaScript.

SQL

I have worked for almost 20 years in desktop and web development using databases. These include SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL. I have worked with queries, stored procedures, and designing tables.

Visual Basic

My first professional job was developing in QuickBasic and then in Visual Basic for over 5 years. In the last several years, I have exclusively developed in C# or Visual Basic.
