I look forward to the opportunity to help you find greater success in school. I stress learning the basics, but do it in a variety of ways. I like to use games and competitions, and things which interest you. For example, if you are interested in animals, for reading skills we would read animal stories, and for math skills we would use animal illustrations. I want you to have success now, but also help you with skills that will profit you in your future.
I have taught in public and private schools, elementary and middle. I have a MD teaching license, and extensive training in autism. Many of my former students had ADHD and other learning disabilities. Whatever your circumstances or style of learning, together we can find ways to help you have fun while you learn.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught elementary grades in several private schools in the 1980s. Then I helped my own children progress through elementary school. I then got my bachelor's degree in elementary education, and taught 7th grade math for 7 years. From September 2013 to June 2014, I taught remedial reading in an after school program to grades K-6 . Throughout 2014, I tutored a second-third grade student in reading. I am currently tutoring that same same student and her younger brother in reading, spelling, and math. I am also tutoring three 6th grade students in math. I like to get information from the child's teacher or school system on what the students will be covering in the near future. Then along with helping as needed with what they are currently studying, I can give them a head start on what is ahead.
