Hello, I'm Liz! I recently graduated summa cum laude from George Washington University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. My love for teaching developed in college when I took on a K-12 volunteer tutoring position during my freshman year. Since then, I've taken coursework in early education, gained classroom experience, and worked as a Biology teaching assistant. I've also picked up some teaching tips from a lot of my best professors.

In my previous teaching positions, the most important idea that I've learned is that every student learns differently! Whether it's visually, verbally, through group discussions, games, etc. I've come to understand that a successful teacher will use a variety of teaching techniques. Tutoring is awesome because working 1-on-1 with someone means the lesson can be tailored to fit that person's learning needs.

That being said, I don't have a "favorite" method of teaching because

I hope to connect with you and help you get the practice you need outside of the traditional classroom. Let me know if you have further questions!

Math can be difficult and overwhelming for so many students. To help my students, I like to emphasize three steps which are: Understanding the purpose of the math problem, observing an example problem, and applying to practice problems. I have experience teaching K-12/elementary math from my tutoring positions throughout college.

Science is my favorite subject of all time. I have worked as a biology teaching assistant for a year and a half at my university and majored in psychology. I also have experience from a college teaching course that focused on educating K-5 in science topics- this is also where I gained my classroom teaching experience.

I'm really excited about the opportunity to tutor again through Wyzant. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson.
