Bio

Hi there! I'm Tabinda and I'm majoring in Economics and minoring in French at The George Washington University. Throughout high school and college, I came to realize that the most effective teachers were those who could not only explain a problem well, but ensure their students understood the material. Using this skill set, I've been a help to many students.

Hi there! I'm Tabinda and I'm majoring in Economics and minoring in French at The George Washington University. Throughout high school and college, I came to realize that the most effective teachers were those who could not only explain a problem well, but ensure their students understood the material. Using this skill set, I've been a help to many students.

I try to incorporate many techniques in my teaching so that I can reach a broader audience. I like to start out subjects very simply and gradually become more thorough as my students advance in learning. The way I see it, the most important part of tutoring is teaching a subject so that anyone can grasp it. The remaining essential parts are to provide extra practice and feedback to students. In this way, I can see how well I am doing as a tutor and touch base with students to be sure they have learned a concept. I am always more than happy to rework and reframe a topic and provide additional help.

I have had experience teaching Algebra 1 and 2 to an eighth-grade and ninth-grade class for half a year. During this time, I worked as a volunteer teaching assistant as part of an accelerated math program requirement. I sat in on classes twice a week and followed the topics the teacher introduced. My job was to provide extra explanations and assistance to students who needed more attention and practice with the material. I would walk them through parts of a problem and provide them a chance to apply what I taught them on their own to be sure they knew what to do.

I have been studying French language and culture for the last six years. In high school, I took French 1, 2, 3, 4, and AP French. I also served as a member of my school's French Honor Society for two years, where I was required to tutor students for three hours per semester. As a tutor, I created homework assignments and supplemental materials for students to practice grammar, vocabulary, as well as sentence structure. I would work directly with students, either in individual settings, or small groups depending on their needs. I went over exams and quizzes with them, practiced simulated conversations to increase their speaking skills, as well as proofread their essays for spelling and grammatical mistakes. Additionally, I held review sessions for students to practice and quiz themselves on what they knew and what they still needed help with before exams. My goal was to provide every student with understandings of French language so they could recognize their mistakes and correct them for future assessments.

I aim to provide students with the skills they need to excel in my subjects, whether the goal is to ace an exam or pick up French language skills and proficiency. I am always open to receiving feedback on how effective my methods are and what I can do to improve a student's learning experience. I can be reached by email to address student needs and answer questions outside of scheduled lessons. I look forward to working with you or your child.

thumbs up

She was prepared, arrived on time, and most importantly she made the work easier to understand. She provided a great written recap of the lesson afterwards.

Great at test prep!

As always, Tabinda does an amazing job at preparing our son for his French test. She takes the tea time needed and makes the tutoring session a very comfortable environment to practice and learn.
