About Jessica

Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a graduate of the University of Maryland. I graduated with two degrees, one in Russian language and literature, and the other in Eastern European history. While in college, I spent two summers in Moscow teaching English as a second language.

I love feeling accomplished when I master a particularly hard concept or memorize certain facts. I want to be able to share this feeling with my potential students! I benefitted from math tutors in high school and it is only fair that I give back to students as well.

In high school, I took eight AP classes and passed all of the tests with a 4 or higher.

I spent two summers teaching ESOL to Russian native speakers. I have experience teaching the 13 English verb tenses and facilitating discussions in English to improve student's conversational skills.

I graduated with a degree in Russian language and I am a 2 on the ILR scale.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Russian

I speak business fluent Russian. I am a 2 on the ILR scale. I graduated with a degree in Russian language from UMD and have been studying Russian for four years.
