About Anat

I'm a graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinetic Imaging (video, animation, and sound). I am particularly interested in stop motion animation but know 2D and 3D animation as well. I was adopted from China and grew up in Israel till the age of 7, when we moved to Washington DC and I learned to read and write in English. Growing up I always loved art and the discovery of Japanese animation only strengthened my resolve to be an artist. I even speak very rudimentary Japanese. I also watch a crazy amount of Netflix, usually while working on my art projects. My other passions, besides art, include musicals and animals.

I am a great problem solver and am not afraid of growth as a result of facing challenges. I have also participated as a team member on other animation projects and believe that I have developed very good communication and interpersonal skills as a result of both of these experiences. I have solid time management skills, demonstrated through my planning and prioritization of work both as a manager of and team member on art projects. In addition I can offer an extremely positive yet focused attitude. I am confident that my resolve and enthusiasm as an artist, capable work ethic and respect for others would make me an optimal tutor to others.

I know a diverse amount of programs including the adobe creative suite. I am particularly well versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premier. I've also taken many life drawing classes and have taught some basic drawing.

I have an upbeat attitude and love to help in any way that I can. I will try my very best to help answer any questions you might have and to give the best feedback possible. It would make me so happy if I can share my passion for the arts with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Flash

I majored in Animation. I've used Flash several times to do mainly 2d computer drawn animation but have played around with replacement animation.

Animation

I studied Animation in school and that is what my passion is in. I am well versed in 2d and 3d animation as well as stop motion and claymation. My portfolio can be found at anatscham.com

Autodesk Maya

In school I took several 3D art classes which used Maya and Mudbox. I have knowledge in modeling and rigging as well as animating characters in Maya. I've done character sculpting in Mudbox.

Drawing

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth School of the Arts with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. I've taken many life drawing classes, that consisted of clothed and nude models. I have been drawing since I was very young. I've also taken several classes at the Corcoran when it was an art school.

Film

My Major was Kinetic Imaging which included video, animation and sound. I have my own DSLR and shot my own content for my film classes. I know about framing shots and lighting which I can help my students with. I also know a bit about making camera rigs and about sound equipment.

Graphic Design

I've done several jobs where I needed to do page layout for magazines and brochures. I also helped design my own website as well as design a kickstater page for a friend. I have also worked doing motion graphics for a few clients which involved making the assets for animation. I also took a class in typography.

Video Production

My Major included Video production. I am well versed in programs such as Premier, After Effects and Final Cut. I also have experience with green-screens and some VFX. I've edited all my own videos and animations and composited all my shots in my portfolio of work.
