Bio

I learn best when I am interested in what I'm working on. As a teacher and tutor, I make sure my students cultivate as much enthusiasm as possible so the work is enjoyable.

I also think students work best when they have agency and control over the work. Rather than just giving answers, I like to teach my students how to find answers themselves so that they feel capable and confident by the end of our sessions.

I specialize in essay writing and reading comprehension. In writing, I work on middle school through graduate-level work, at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to final stage proofreading and polishing. In reading comprehension, I have worked on all kinds of texts (scholarly articles, philosophy, poetry, novels, etc.), at all levels. I have also tutored SAT reading and writing.

I am an English Phd student with a focus on twentieth century poetry and aesthetics. I have taught academic writing at the university level for a number of years now and have received teaching awards and accolades due to the enthusiasm and success of my former students. I am also a freelance editor for an independent press, academic journals, and for the textbook publisher, McGraw-Hill.

If you are looking for an elite tutor, professional help, and an enthusiastic personality, I am the tutor for you. I hope to work with you soon!
