About Jerome

From an early age, I have had an interest in history, politics, and government. This interest led me to major in political science as an undergraduate student, earn a Masters in Public Administration, and eventually my PhD. While working on my PhD, I gained valuable government experience working in the Executive Office of the President. Additionally, I have a wealth of experience working for political organizations and running for office. My research explores: Black leadership in a "post-racial" America, socioeconomic/social justice issues affecting the Black community, and the Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.

I am a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and am a Philadelphia Phillies Fan. Currently, I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of the District of Columbia. In may spare time, I play flute in Washington DC’s Different Drummers Capitol Pride Symphonic Band and enjoy listening to the film scores of composer John Williams.

I have over four years of teaching experience at the college level teaching courses such as Introduction to American Government, The Legislative Process, Black Politics, Urban Politics, etc. I'm a firm believer that not every person learns the same way. Thus, I employ a number of different methods to ensure that my students are able to not only grasp the concepts of Political Science, but fully understand them and apply them to their everyday life.

I encourage you to contact me if you are interested in learning more about how I can help you master government, politics, and political science or if you would like to schedule lessons. Government and politics doesn't have to be boring and I will do everything in my power to make the subject enjoyable and easy to understand. I look forward to helping you achieve your goal.
