About Molly

As a literature major and published writer, I understand the challenges that writing can present. I am passionate about helping students improve their communication skills and achieve their goals -- whether that means acing the SAT reading and writing sections or composing essays for college applications. I know it can be overwhelming and I aim to leave my students with the skills, as well as the confidence, to improve their writing in the future.

Most recently, I worked as a writing workshop leader for a 200-level literature class at American University, where I assisted in teaching a group of five students. This summer I will be working as a writing mentor through The Adroit Journal's Summer Mentorship Program, creating a syllabus and providing individual instruction to two high school students. I spent the past year working as an editorial intern for CQ Researcher, an imprint of SAGE Publications; I am happy to proofread as well as provide tutoring services. I love watching my students' ideas emerge from their writing as they gain the skills necessary to succeed. Teaching is very inspiring to me -- often, I learn as much from my students as they do from me!

I specialize in SAT Writing (and Reading), Literature, Proofreading, and General Writing. I can assist students struggling with the time constraints of standardized testing, as well as help improve reading comprehension and sentence structure. I am particularly passionate about editing college application essays.

I am available online 9 am to 9 pm Mon-Fri and in person from 9 am to 9 pm Wed- Fri. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you reach your writing goals!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I frequently edit the cover letters and resumes of my classmates. Recently, a federal agency hired me without an interview due to the quality of my resume. I am more than willing to help you improve the written presentation of your skills and experience!
