About Stephanie

I have worked in the public school sector for the last 12 years. Ten of these years, I happily served as an elementary teacher, teaching grades K, 1st, and 4th. I returned back to college in 2011 to obtain a Post-Master's degree in Administration and Supervision/Educational Leadership with the hopes of obtaining an Assistant Principal position. For the last two years I have taken on more of a leadership role in the schools and now focus on using data to drive instruction and work as an instructional coach to support teachers.

Due to my work load during the week my availability will be weekends only.

Having taught K and 1st, I am very familiar with how number sense is essential in fostering and understanding mathematics. Additionally I know how to use developmentally and age appropriate activities to help investigate and problem solve. Having taught the upper grades, I am familiar with how the skills in the lower grades are an essential component on building a strong math background. I use number talk and encourage students to demonstrate their understanding of mathematics through various means: pictures, numbers, words.

I have attended various trainings dedicated to the fundamentals of a strong reading program. I am skilled in guided reading, additionally I understand how to determine a students reading level and use the appropriate text to help him/her better understand how to read, while focusing on vocabulary, grammar, story elements.

I am trained in word study and have a strong background in how to use phonics and word study together to better understand the relationship between letters/sounds and patterns in words. These are essential in helping decode and become a better reader.

Word Study is my strength and I approach any spelling activity with a word study approach.

Thank you again for viewing my profile! Please contact me if you have any additional questions or need additional information. I look forward to hearing from you.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
