About Kesha

Hello! Thank you for reading my profile. As an educator and non-profit professional, I offer over 12 years of expertise in education with a specific focus on literacy/reading, writing and professional development coaching.

On one hand, I am well versed with supporting readers of all ages PreK - Adult improve their abilities, identify their strengths and habits that help cultivate a lifelong love of reading. In the past, I have taught PK - 8th grade in DC, worked for an ESL company overseas, and tutored adults who aimed to improve their reading proficiency. Additionally, I formally worked for a children's literature company and have an above average understanding of not only best practices (pedagogy) for struggling readers but also a wide range of children's literature and books that encourage young people to read topics they are interested in for fun (so that reading is not just associated with school work). In my lessons, I incorporate culturally responsive and leveled reading materials/books so that my clients are encouraged and enjoy the subject matter! Regarding adult learners, I have tutored professionals from Fortune 100 companies in Japan, single mothers and individuals learning English as a second language. I have a particular interest in helping adult readers improve their reading proficiency so that they may realize a professional or personal goal.

On the other hand, I have over a decade of experience designing and leading projects and organizing teams in non-profit/foundation and community organizations. I have an expert understanding of the requirements of the professional world and currently coach and mentor 3 young professionals on maximizing their personal and career potential. In this regard, I am especially suited to provide assistance with university writing/editing, resume/interview preparation, competitive application editing and review (Grad School, Fulbright, CLS etc.) among other personal and professionally oriented goals. In addition, I have attended (and excelled at) multiple types of learning institutions (including an HBCU, public, private, elite and international) and offer application coaching to high school students.

Finally, I have lived in Japan for approximately 4 years and studied Japanese language and culture. I have an advanced proficiency in Japanese and enjoy teaching conversation to beginners and travel enthusiasts.

I enjoy working with all ages and have a flexible, engaging and personable work style that allows me to adjust to varied circumstances and the personal nuances of my clients. I look forward to working together!

Patient and Absolutely wonderful

Kesha is proving to be a life saver so far. My daughter is going to live in Japan next year for a full school year. I was so worried that she would not learn enough in time for her trip to be self sufficient. After just a few lessons with Kesha my mind is at ease. My daughter enjoys her sessions and really likes Kesha. She does a great job of relating to my daughter and making her feel confide
