About Will

Hi, my name is Will. I love to help people understand things, and learn in creative ways. I have worked with the Academic Success Center at my college tutoring undergraduate and graduate students while I was in school at Columbia International University (CIU). In 2013 I graduated Cum Laude with a major in Communications and a minor in Business and Organization Leadership. During my time there, I received several scholarships and was ultimately Inducted into the Delta Epsilon Chi Honor society at CIU. This past month, Sept. 2015, I took the GRE since I plan to go to grad school next year. I scored a 167 (out of 170) on the Verbal Reasoning Section on my first try. I'd love to help you study for yours too!

I am very appreciative of everyone who helped me get where I am today, and I would like to do for others, what others have done for me. I'm here to help you succeed in your goals. I am a very patient teacher, and very flexible with my schedule and creative in my lessons. I'm offering tutoring in a wide range of areas that I myself have been successful in.

First, I'm offering tutoring for the Verbal Reasoning section of the GRE. Second, I'd love to teach you music. I've been playing since I was young, and teaching over the past couple years. Warning! If you are not good, I will tell you. I do not offer false praise for bad music. However, if you are ready to learn, I'm ready to teach you! I can teach to intermediate levels piano, guitar, harmonica and bass.

I'm also Communications major, and if you need to know basic things about your computer, I'd love to help you out! Need help with French? I can help you with that too! I did a year of college work in Quebec, Canada and became fluent in the language during my time there. Finally, I can help you learn how to make good quality videos. I took courses in digital media, video editing, and graphic design as a part of my Communications major, and I would love to pass on to you what I have learned. After graduating I entered some freelance national competitions for creative commercials and I placed in the top 5 for many of the competitions. If you would like to see a portfolio, let me know!

I guess that is about it! The skills that I have listed here are skills that people constantly compliment me on, so I want to help others achieve success as well. If you have any questions, or would like to see examples, please let me know! I'm very friendly and easy going and if you just want to talk to me first to see if we are a good fit for each other, just let me know and I'll be glad to do that for you. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks and good luck!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

General Computer

I am happy to help you learn basic computer skills. While I don't have a particular certificate in computer programming, I am a Communications major and have quite a bit of experience using all versions of Windows OS and most versions of Mac including the latest which I daily use at work.

Guitar

I have been playing the guitar for over ten years and teach acoustic guitar. My Dad was a jazz guitarist and so music has always been a part of who I am, and I love to pass on to others the joy of playing music. I can teach beginner to intermediate acoustic guitar. I will help you learn to play by ear, follow chord charts and accompany yourself if you wish to learn how to write your own songs.
