I have extensive experience in teaching photography, photographic equipment, and photography related materials, such as Lightroom and Photoshop to all levels of students. While working at Ritz Camera and Image I was a Photo Patrol Instructor which meant that I taught all level of photography related material to all levels of students. I also maintained many of these relationships with students after I left Ritz Camera and Image and still continue to teach them today.
As a Graduate Student I was a T.A. and taught a class on video editing and development. I created the whole curriculum and held bi-weekly seminars on the subject matter, giving assignments and grading students.
I have been working with Lightroom since version 2.0 and have kept abreast of all the changes that have taken place in the program since then. I use Lightroom on a regular basis, developing photographs for clients and for my own photographs.
I have a strong art background with a degree from two of the top universities in my field. I understand and can put into practice the principles of art, and know how to portray that to others in a clear and concise manner.
I am enthusiastic about art and how it can enrich our daily lives. I love to share my passion, and am happy seeing others enjoy the experience of making their own art. Matthew has a lovely temperament. He was very patient with me and understood that I learn by making notes as I tackle a new process/skill.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a B.F.A. in Printmaking and Drawing from Washington University in St. Louis. I studied all sorts of drawing techniques while at the University, both in core, and in my major, including figure and still life drawing, and non-representational drawing as well. I continued these studies at Cranbrook Academy of Art in my M.F.A. studies, moving into forms of digital drawings as well. I have continued these pursuits on my own as a practicing artist since I graduated from my Master's program.
I have a B.F.A. in photography from Washington University in St. Louis where I learned all forms of photography from model and product shooting to landscape and studio photography. I have worked as a professional photographer for over 6 years now, doing product and event photography. While working at Ritz Camera and Image, I was a Photo Patrol Instructor, which meant that I taught all levels of photography and photography related subject matter to all levels of photography students.
