American University (Political Science)
My work has spanned multiple fields of work and multiple continents. While I studied political science at American University, my professional career focused on education and international relations. I most recently worked as a teacher with Education First in China and as a Peace Corps TEFL Volunteer in Ukraine before that. My interest in international relations started as an undergraduate students when I did field research in Colombia (focusing on trade policy) and Israel (focusing on the peace process).
In my undergraduate years I also gained experience abroad teaching English in Hungary and theater in Italy. When I was not traveling I focused my work on agricultural policy, first with the USDA and then as a researcher with The Worldwatch Institute. These two experiences with agricultural policy gave me great research and policy analysis skills in two very different contexts, first as a government worker and secondly as a researcher with a think tank. My research with the Worldwatch Institute has been published in multiple media outlets including The Christian Science Monitor, International Business Times and the The Taipei Times.
I have taught a variety of subjects including English, Theater, Speech Writing/Public speaking, Leadership and Science
Having taught in four different countries outside of the United States I bring a global prospective to my teaching and during my time in Ukraine I held three English Clubs in my community which allowed me to teach social studies and American History to my students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
