About Megan

In May of 2015 I will be graduating with honors from The Catholic University of America with a degree in Elementary Education. I would consider myself a lifelong learner who enjoys bringing the love of learning to others. I have always had a passion for working with children to achieve their highest potential. As a substitute teacher for grades K-12 since 2012, I have gained experience with a vast array of student learning styles. Helping students to discover their own earning styles and how they can utilize their strengths translates to success in the classroom and higher self esteem. I have also volunteered with DC Reads, working in partnership with six different local elementary schools and non-profit institutions to increase students' reading and math skills.
My passion for working with children goes beyond the classroom. Each summer since 2010 I have volunteered at week long camping program for children afflicted with cancer and other related blood disorders.

I will be certified to teach all Elementary subjects.

I believe that making learning fun and meaningful is the best way to engage a child in the subject matter.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
