##### About Lisa

I recently graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) with a dual degree in Mathematics and Civil Engineering. Throughout my undergraduate education, I have had much experience teaching and tutoring students in math, and I have found these experiences to be rewarding as I observe students improve academically with my help. I am currently pursuing a master's degree at Teachers College, Columbia University that will certify me to teach mathematics at the secondary level of education.

I first gained experience in teaching math when I worked as a self-employed tutor for a high school Algebra II student during my freshman year of college. He was initially receiving poor grades in his class, but I was amazed at how much his grades improved after a few tutoring sessions. My tutoring experience led me to realize how much I enjoyed teaching math. During my first semester as a college sophomore, I volunteered as a tutor for the University of Maryland Lakeland STARS program for underprivileged elementary school students in Prince George’s Country, Maryland. I found this to also be a rewarding experience as I saw how much my tutee appreciated my help. I was also a teaching assistant at UMD for the past two years for Calculus I and II.
