I am an adult ESL teacher with experience tutoring in subjects such as grammar, government, law, chemistry, and math. I enjoy teaching the deeper connections between concepts in order to facilitate understanding and a deeper and wider knowledge base than is required by most tests. I have tutored at both the high school and undergraduate levels.
I expect punctuality, a desire to understand the material, a willingness to question assumptions, and a sense of humor. I promise to give my students the same in return. I also expect to be informed of specific topics that would be covered in our first session so I can prepare and maximize the student's time.
At Syracuse University I gained a JD, an MS in public relations, and an MA in international relations. I have two certificates in legal studies: global law & practice and law, politics & media. I also have certificates in graduate studies: post-conflict reconstruction and Middle East studies. Before Syracuse, I attended Penn State University where I obtained a BA in political science and a BA in philosophy. As an undergraduate, for 2 years I was an astrophysics major, and as such can tutor high school and introductory math, chemistry, physics, and astronomy.
I have worked with the following organizations in varying capacities: Congressman Maurice Hinchey's Office, Ulster County Attorney's Office, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bahrain, Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), FairVote, Albany Associates, and the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy.
Otherwise, my interests include constitutional law, electoral engineering, new media, democratization, public diplomacy, the Middle East, secularism, post-conflict reconstruction, political campaigns, human rights, and online communication. Tutoring

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a law degree and during that course of study took a course in criminal law and another in international criminal law.
I have been taking and teaching martial arts since I was six years old. I have had a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do since 2006 and just recently received a 2nd degree black belt in Judo. I also wrestled in high school and have experience with Judo and teaching martial arts to children.
I have a BA in political science, an MA in international relations, and a JD. I volunteered on Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. I have moderated several panel discussions and have presented my work at several think tank events. Also, I am currently a classroom ESL teacher.
