The University of Hong Kong, Asia's No.1 University (Accounting Finance)
I'm currently doing summer internship in Washington D.C. and have a strong desire to teach Chinese and introduce Chinese culture to my tutees. I study in the University of Hong Kong, Asia's No.1 University, in which courses are all conducted in English. Though my mother tongue is Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, I acquired an overall band of 8.5 in IELTS (International English Language Testing System), the full marks of which is 9. I take advantage of Hong Kong's westernized and internationalized background and befriend with international students from diverse cultural backgrounds as well as Chinese students. In this way my cross-cultural communication skills are greatly strengthened.
I tutored a 7-year-old British boy and a 18-year-old teenager in Hong Kong. I try my very best to make my lessons intriguing, interactive and intellectually-stimulating. In order to make my tutees concentrate on the lesson, I conducted my lessons with multimedia tools including movies, books, videos, etc. It's my firmly held view that a high-quality language lesson should be culturally grounded. Unlike those boring tutorials that confine the lessons to the content of a textbook, I helped my tutees gain an insight into Chinese civilization, folklife culture, literature, poems and movies. Moreover, my tutees praised me for coming up with effective and innovative ways to help them expand their vocabulary and improve their reading, conversational and listening skills in Chinese language.
It's my great pleasure and passion to help others learn and succeed with strong motivation and a consistent sense of accomplishment. Please don't hesitate to get in touch for further information. I really look forward to my tutees in Washington D.C! I'm currently doing summer internship in Washington D.C. and have a strong desire to teach Chinese and introduce Chinese culture to my tutees. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
