I have been teaching and tutoring for most of my life. I love my job teaching high school and middle school science and working one on one with motivated students of all ages to improve how they learn. I have successfully tutored a variety of subjects in a student-centered, time-efficient manner; I have successfully helped students raise their SAT and ACT scores for over a decade.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have have tutored, taught, and mentored numerous hyperactive and attention deficit students in the past 12 years. Many were clinically diagnosed and being medically treated and others were not. I worked one on one with some, tutoring them in subjects such as SAT prep, writing, and math. As a science teacher, I have taught scores of students with ADD/ADHD. I love teaching genetics--it is a fascinating area of study. It is a topic I taught my students for 10 years in both 9th grade biology and in AP Biology. I have seen students struggle with genetics and have worked successfully with them to improve their mastery of the subject. I have successfully prepared students to understand genetics to find success on both the SAT Subject Test in Biology and the AP Biology test. (In fact, my AP students had a 100% pass rate!) In college, I was fortunate enough to take an advanced genetics course with a professor who had authored a genetics text--I learned from a master of the subject and strive to emulate his teaching.
I graduated from New Jersey Medical School, where I was enrolled in their 7-year, dual-degree BA/MD program with Drew University. I graduated in May, 2001 and then completed two years of residency in family medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL.
I did not need a good score on the MCAT to enroll in medical school since I was accepted when I was in high school. The school did require that I sit for the test. Without any test preparation, my score was still in the top half of my medical school class. I have had 12 years of experience preparing students for rigorous, standardized tests, such as the MCAT and am ready to help other future doctors earn high scores on this exam.
I tutor all three sections of the SAT, and I only use college board materials. I have used effective, student-centered strategies that have been improving student scores for over 11 years. The Math SAT can sometimes generate nervousness or fear that can limit a student's score, and I address these concerns and help my students figure out how to rise past these barriers to success. Using simple tricks and tools, I help students raise their Math SAT score.
