Ever since I was 10 years old, I remember being fascinated with computers. I wanted to know how all the programs worked and how the computer worked. My fascination with computers only increased when I took computer science classes in high school. When the time came for me to attend college, I chose computer science at one of the best engineering schools in the country, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Go Mustangs! While there, I branched out and got an interdisciplinary degree in computer science and criminal justice and minored in computer science. I currently work with computers, both hardware and software, in my current job.
I've taken over 10 different computer science classes, eight at the collegiate level and have easily spent hundreds of hours either writing code or taking apart computers. All of my time spent learning about and interacting with computers has taught me one thing: you're always smarter than the computer, even if you don't know it yet. Computers and programming can seem daunting at first, but I believe that I can explain in to you in a logical, concise, and manner in which you can understand it. I understand that everyone has a different way of learning, and I look forward to finding out which way each of my student learns so that I can best serve them.
Additionally, I have two younger sisters and my job as always been helping them with their math homework. In terms of math, I have tutored mostly elementary and middle school aged children and feel confident in my abilities to help your child grasp concepts that might at first seem frustrating, both to you and them. Math really is a language, just like English, and I look forward to helping your children understand it.

Jessica is an absolute expert in Word. She helped me work through some complicated features....she is the best...highly recommend! Thank you.
Jessica provided me with exactly the help I needed. She answered my questions about my Mac and other apple products. Jessica has a very pleasant personality and seemed genuinely interested in helping me. She is excellent. I plan to use her again.
Jessica is very smart at what she does and has very good people skills. I'm very happy to have her as my tutor, because she is very patient and always right on. She knows how to teach.
Jessica is a great tutor. I could not have imagined a better session. She is positive, enthusiastic, and very clear - a gifted teacher. I will definitely continue to work with her in the future and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for help with Microsoft Office products for Mac or any other topic she teaches.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken five collegiate level programming classes, which included programming in Java and C. The classes were taken at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, a national accredited university. I have been both a tutor and student in multiple study groups for computer programming. Based on my experiences with the study groups, I have learned that each person understands the computer languages in a different way, but fundamentally, they are all the same. Once I have found the best way a student learns, I can then demonstrate the concepts to them in a manner that is effective.
I received a minor in computer science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, a nationally accredited university. I excelled in my computer science classes because I was determined to understand how the computer worked and "thought" instead of just memorizing diagrams and theories. Computer science encompasses many different aspects of the computer and depending on the area in which the student is requesting help, I will adapt my teaching. For example, polymorphism and Moore's law are two completely different topics and areas of computer science, and as such, each require a different approach.
