There is a large section of my bookshelf devoted to volumes on grammar, writing, communication, and theory. Some think this makes my sanity questionable, I think it makes me better at what I do.
My passion for language drives my work and I enjoy the teaching process and sharing my knowledge with students. I have a Master's Degree in Communication from Wake Forest University and an expert-level knowledge of English syntax, grammar, and composition. With over a decade of experience editing, teaching, and writing, I am confident I can help anyone improve their English skills, become a better writer or speaker, and increase their comprehension.
I also have experience both practicing and teaching public speaking, rhetoric, rhetorical criticism, and interpersonal communication at the undergraduate level.
My teaching and tutoring style is tailored to each student. I am patient and willing to work with all skill levels.
Please feel free to contact with any questions--I'm happy to discuss.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My thorough background in Communication (M.A. from a top-ranked program at Wake Forest University as well as an undergraduate degree) is heavily focused in composition. With over a decade of editing experience, I have also cultivated a rich knowledge of the English language including grammar, syntax, and style.
There's a section of my bookshelf devoted to volumes on grammar, syntax, and punctuation. Seriously, I read this stuff for fun. Also, I've been an editor for ten years; this sort of thing is second nature to me.
I was a teaching assistant at Wake Forest University during my tenure as a graduate student in communication. During that time, I was a T.A. for public speaking and regularly taught groups of undergraduate students the fundamentals of this art. I was also a member of Toastmasters International for several years, during which I learned much and participated successfully in several public speaking competitions.
I've been in a pool since I was in diapers. I swam competitively through high school and have been teaching swimming lessons and coaching students for over 10 years. I'm also a proud 6-year ocean rescue lifeguard veteran. Throughout my career, I was a coach for young lifeguards and also a USLA national competitor.
