Hi Everyone! I am a trained Arabic linguist with a B.A. in linguistics and an MPA from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies with a language concentration in Arabic. I am a native Arabic speaker of the Levantine dialect and have been tutoring and teaching Arabic to a wide range of students at different levels since 2010. Over the past 8 years, I have taught and tutored Arabic at the Middlebury Institute, Middlebury College Arabic School (Summer program), and most recently the American University of Kuwait. In addition to teaching at several academic institutions, I have been tutoring and helping non-native speakers in the DC area both prepare for their Arabic exams and further develop their language skills for their jobs. I have worked with a wide range of students from senior diplomats and military personnel to college students and children.

In addition to Modern Standard Arabic and my native Levantine dialect, I have taught the Gulf and Egyptian dialect at beginner and intermediate levels. I recognize the challenges that come with learning a new language (ESPECIALLY Arabic!) and tailor the lessons based on each student's goals, learning styles and time constraints.

I currently work as an Arabic interpreter for the U.S. Department of State. As a bilingual American of Arab origin, I am passionate about teaching Arabic to non-native speakers and bridging cultural gaps. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you improve your Arabic language, or begin your Arabic learning journey!

I am qualified to tutor Arabic, because I am an Arabic linguist. I have a BS degree in linguistics and a master's degree from the Monterey Institute of International Studies where Arabic was my language concentration. I worked as an Arabic Instructional Aide at the Monterey Institute for two consecutive years where I conducted tutoring and review sessions for beginner through advanced students in the Arabic department. At Middlebury College, I taught an 8-week, 5-hour daily intensive Elementary Modern Standard Arabic class while incorporating various elements of Egyptian/Levantine Colloquial Arabic and culture. The course is delivered while under the Middlebury Language Pledge which requires that all faculty and students interact solely in the target language for the entirety of the 8-week program. Class instruction, accordingly, is delivered in Arabic incorporating various audio-visual materials. Currently, I work as a contracting Arabic interpreter with the Department of State providing consecutive interpretation and administrative support for U.S. government-sponsored visitors from overseas on public diplomacy programs around the nation.
