My name is Jordan. I am a graduate of Hampton University in Hampton, VA, where I earned a Bachelors degree in Political Science with a concentration on Pre-Law Studies in May 2015. I am currently a student at Howard University School of Law. I am interested entering the field of education law pursuant of my goals of eradicating the pre-school to prison pipeline that plagues the African American community in this country. Being the son of an elementary school teacher, education has always played a significant role in my life and that is evident in my work and volunteer experience.

Beginning in the summer of 2010, I have held a variety of positions that have provided me with the experience needed to provide you with quality tutoring services. In June 2010, I began working as a teachers assistant at Plaza Baptist Christian Preschool in Virginia Beach, VA. I was tasked making copies, conducting lessons, supervising groups of children, and being a positive role model for the young people around me. During my freshman year of undergrad, I was a private tutor in Hampton, VA. I tutored approximately 10 hours a week in elementary math and reading. From September 2013 to May 2014 I volunteered for AmeriCorps which provided me with experience in tutoring, mentoring, and team building. I was assigned to work at a middle school in Hampton, VA with very poor test scores and a low student morale overall. My team and I crafted activities that incorporated information that would be on standardized tests while also making it fun for the students. In December 2014, I began working as a substitute teacher for the City of Virginia Beach Public Schools. I was primarily assigned jobs at elementary schools, so I am very familiar with a lot of content that is covered in an elementary school lesson. In the event that a teacher was unable to leave lesson plans for the day, I was able to use my previous work and volunteer experience to think of quick lessons on my feet that pertained to the subjects the class had been learning about.

Criminal Justice

I received my bachelors degree from Hampton University in Political Science, where I graduated with honors. In addition to the coursework required by my major, I was on a Pre-Law track during my time at Hampton University, which included classes that pertained to the American federal/state court systems, Constitutional Law, Judicial Procedures, etc. As a requirement for graduating from Hampton University, I constructed a thesis paper on the faults in the American criminal justice system while concentrating on the "War on Drugs." I am currently studying law at Howard University School of Law, where crime and justice are two terms that are frequently discussed in the law school environment.
