About Sharon

I am a Career Cosmetologist, that started from a role of student in Beauty Culture, that now has over 30 years in the industry.

I am a Licensed Cosmetology Instructor, State board member, National Cosmetology board member, Career Arts and Sciences Schools Academic and Industry Evaluator for a National Commission, Certified Cosmetology Teacher (exp./2017), Professor of Cosmetology and related Sciences Curriculum and Instruction. Former President of the District of Columbia Association for Career and Technical Education, Beauty Consultant, Basic and Advance Cosmetology Instructor/ Tutor.

I have a love and passion for our industry, education, licensing, and truth of our professional career. I believe all art and academic focused students can have a very rewarding career path with the beauty industry, also have the opportunity to cross over into other fields of education, to name a few: Music industry, Medical field, Arts and Entertainment, Fire Science, Business Finance and management, Education, Event planning, Beauty Competitions, Trade show presentations, and yes even Community involvement careers. There are so many more pathways and the life time learner will appreciate the industry we are a part of.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Clarinet

I am a clarinet player and bass clarinet player.

I have played in concert, marching, and symphonic seasons.

I continue to practice and tutor youth to date.

Cosmetology

I am a licensed Cosmetology Instructor/Certified Cosmetology Teacher and Professor of Cosmetology.

I am a State board member and national board member.

I am an evaluator Academic/Industry nationally.

I have 30 years' experience and tutor experience of over 20 years.

General Music

I am a Clarinet and Bass Clarinet player, with a 6 year playing history in the concert, marching, and symphonic bands.

I continue to play to date and tutor youth in beginning band and advance band.

Public Speaking

I am a public speaker and have taught public speaking on the secondary and post secondary levels.

I have spoken publicly on several board meetings and organization meetings.

I am licensed as a teacher that delivers instructions and lectures.
