About Ryan

Hello, all! I studied international relations at USC, with concentrations in international political economy and the region comprising the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. I spent one semester living abroad in St. Petersburg, Russia studying Russian and lived there for a couple of months the following year. Additionally, I have worked two stints in the United States Senate.

Currently, I'm a senior finance manager at an international NGO in DC, working with government contracts and compliance - combining both international accounting experience with governmental experience. The majority of my 10 years of experience as an accountant has been with various non-profits, both local chapters and national / international headquarters of large organizations. One of my responsibilities at work is to train all new employees on accounting, as well as on the various software packages they would use and to travel to international subcontractors to establish financial procedures.

I have tutored in the past for accounting, international relations, political science and middle/high school math, English, economics and history / government.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Financial Accounting

I am a senior accountant at a consulting firm, who has been tutoring students in accounting for 6 years. In my role at work, I am responsible for training my clients on proper accounting treatment of various transactions that their businesses encounter, in keeping with GAAP and IRS requirements.

Government & Politics

In addition to working on a presidential campaign, I also spent two terms working for a United States Senator on the Senate Floor in Washington, DC. Given that exposure, I experienced the inner workings of government on a daily basis. I also majored in international relations in college, which is a subset of political science.
