About Leah

I am a certified Spanish teacher who has four years of experience teaching both middle school and high school aged students. I also have experience as a Spanish teaching assistant for college aged students.

I received my B.A. in Hispanic Studies, during which I studied abroad in Spain for two semesters, my M.S. in Educational Studies, and am currently working towards a second M.S. in Spanish Linguistics.

I love teaching and engaging students in meaningful learning activities. My goal is to help students improve their Spanish language abilities while making them feel more confident in their learning capabilities.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I received a post-graduate certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I have previous experience tutoring ESOL at a refugee center and I am currently participating in online tutoring with a native Portuguese speaker.

Portuguese

I lived in Brazil for a year, studied Portuguese in college, and have taught a level one course at the university-level.

Spanish

I received my B.A. in Hispanic Studies and my M.S. in Educational Studies. I am a certified teacher in Spanish, and I have four years of teaching experience in Spanish. I am currently working on my second M.S. in Spanish Linguistics.
