My name is Ms. Donna and I have been an educator for 17 years. I began my teaching career at a Catholic School in Washington, D.C. Afterwards, I spent the next 15 years working for a public school system in Maryland. I have taught first grade, second grade, fourth, grade, and fifth grade. I enjoy working with children. My favorite subject to teach is reading/writing and I have had great success with it. I have had parents tell me that their child has been adequately prepared for the next level and I have even had parents come back and ask me to tutor their younger children as a result of the great success that their child has had from my tutoring services. I have seen students who were struggling come up from a C to an A as a result of my tutoring. I believe that learning should be fun for children and that is the approach that I take. I also believe that a good teacher must enjoy what they are doing in order for the students to enjoy it as well. In addition to serving as an educator, I am also a children's book author, an aspiring children's animation scriptwriter, an aspiring Christian playwright, a poet, and a Christian songwriter. I am looking forward to the next student(s) who will serve as a blessing to me by allowing me to help them become a better student, reader, writer, thinker. I am looking forward to hearing from you. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been an elementary educator for 17 years in Maryland. I have also served as a Reading Specialist for six years. I have taught students how to read and write and I have had parents tell me that their children were more than adequately prepared for the next level. I've had parents ask me to teach the younger siblings of my students because of the success that their child had achieved.
I am a licensed reading specialist certified to teach reading K-12. I have served as an educator for 17 years, six of those years were spent as a reading specialist. I have tutored children in reading and have seen them excel. My daughter learned how to read at an early age, and I have even been asked to teach the siblings of students that I've taught in the past due to their child's success.
