University of Virginia
I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2012 and am currently taking time off so that I can focus on studying for Medical College Admission Test. I received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology. I have taken courses General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, as well as Physics. I am fluent in Urdu and English.
I offer a lower rate to students because I conduct those lessons via Skype. If I do have to travel, I request an adjusted rate so as to cover my expenses. I understand the budget constraints that many students face, so by offering a lower rate I have to reduce cost in gas expenses and travel time. I do offer in person sessions, for which my asking rate is $30/hr.
I have been tutoring for 6 years, mostly in chemistry. I recently relocated to the D.C. Metro area and would like to tutor more. I am very well traveled and by doing so have experienced and incorporated different manners of educating in my tutoring method. I use positive feedback method, as I believe it gives students confidence in their approach to complex tasks. My approach to tutoring students relies on explanation of material and then pursuing any problem sets or homework assigned. This method allows for any confusion or questions to come up first and be cleared away while maximizing the confidence a student gains from working on the problem sets. Having been tutored at an early age myself, I understand how to keep the interest and attention of students on the task at hand. In addition, I am a patient tutor, not everyone can understand and pick up concepts from the initial encounter with the material, which is why I repeatedly ask questions, emphasize key points, and help students navigate through the material so as to extract the crucial information. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Hunain has been tutoring my daughter in physics for a couple of months now, and she had improved her overall understanding of the subject considerably. Hunain is always on time, reliable, and well prepared for tutoring sessions. I am highly recommending him to other students.
Hunain tutors my college age son in multiple subjects including biology, chemistry and calculus. He is patient, accessible and a very talented teacher/mentor. My son enjoys working with him and is making good progress in his classes.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored Algebra 1 with WyzAnt for 3 years now and have tutored for 6 years all together.
I have taken calculus and statistics courses. I tutor students up to Calculus in math as well as up to the organic chemistry level.
I majored in Biology and took courses in Inorganic and Organic Chemistry.
I have been tutoring students in math from basic level all the way up to calculus.
My major in college was Biology with a focus in Genetics, including general genetics, human genetics, and epigentics. I have tutored 3 students in genetics over the last two years. I review the material every year, and I recently reviewed it approximately 2 months ago.
I have taken Organic Chemistry along with the lab section at the University of Virginia. I have reviewed organic chemistry every year since and have tutored three students in this subject. I use organic chemistry daily in my research position.
I took one year of university Physics with the lab course. I review the material yearly and have tutored it for 4 years.
7 years as a math tutor. Subjects ranging from Kindergarten level math to Calculus.
Having tutored for 4 years, I have developed 3 different study skills sets depending on the academic level of the student. These skill sets include preparing for exams, self study, group study, time allocation, block schedule, complementing coursework, and stress relief. These methods have been successful in helping students approach their studies with a plan and going through the harder parts of the course with an interest to learn rather than giving up.
