About Asad

An English, Science, Computer Science and Mathematics tutor with 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring. I've taught students of various education levels (from 12th graders to university students pursuing their B.S. and M.S. degrees) in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia as well as around the world in countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Poland, India and China. I have a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering, an M.S. degree in Computer Science and I am currently studying medicine.

In addition to working with students to achieve a thorough understanding and mastery of English, Computer Science (Word processing and programming in Java & C++), Biology (molecular and environmental), Chemistry (inorganic and organic) and Physics (mechanics and electricity and magnetism), I've helped prepare students successfully for the AP English Language and Literature, AP Computer Science, AP Biology, AP Chemistry and AP Physics B and C exams, the verbal and math sections of the SAT exam, the SAT II subject exams in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and the Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences sections of the MCAT exam as a Kaplan MCAT Instructor.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I took Algebra 1 when I was in the 7th grade and have been teaching it to students in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia and around the world since 9th grade during my summers.

Algebra 2

I took Algebra II (honors) in the 10th grade and have been teaching it to students in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia and around the world since entering college during my winter, spring and summer semesters.

Anatomy

I took Anatomy in my first year of medical school and have been teaching it in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia to incoming freshman medical school students.

Chemistry

I took AP Chemistry in the 11th grade, General Chemistry I and II in my first year of undergrad, and Organic Chemistry I and II in my 2nd year of undergrad and have been teaching it to students in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia during my winter, spring and summer semesters.

MCAT

I took the MCAT the summer before my junior year as an undergraduate student in Biomedical Engineering and scored a 42/45.

I took the Kaplan MCAT course approximately 3 months before taking the exam in August at Georgetown University. Upon acquiring such a high score on the MCAT exam in 2009, which placed me in the 99th percentile for the August exam, I received an offer from Kaplan to tutor prospective MCAT test takers as an official Kaplan MCAT instructor. Thus, since April 2010, I have been working as a Kaplan instructor and tutoring students for the MCAT exam.

After completing my M.S. in Computer Science in 2011, I am now entering my second year at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

A god sent — Asad was a god sent. I was looking for someone to help my son complete 5 online courses and pass an exam at the end of each course. Asad helped with English, math, science, and history. He was knowledgeable in all subjects. Asad was patient yet motivating as he encouraged my son to keep pushing on. In addition to the demand of multiple courses, we also had time constraints of less than 5 weeks fo ...
