About Joelle

Hello! My name is Joelle and I am an Artist and art instructor located in the D.C. area. I have 3 years experience teaching fine art to both kids and adults and 20 years of art experience.

I was born and raised in Washington state and attended Tacoma School of the Arts, focusing on the fine arts from 2003-2006. In 2010 I graduated from the University of Washington with my BA.

Since then, I have won awards for my artwork, done commissioned pieces and sold prints of artwork. I maintain a website and Etsy shop where I sell original pieces and prints. Soon I will be teaching at a couple Michael's stores in the area. A few of my favorite mediums are acrylic, oil and pencil. I love working with all ages and believe everyone can benefit from practicing fine art.
If you have any questions, please ask!

I am fun, patient and very kind and am confident we will enjoy working together! Typically, I am most available weekends or weekday evenings. I would be happy to come to your home. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

From 2003-2006, I attended Tacoma School of the Arts and received my degree with an emphasis on Fine Arts. All my life I have been drawing and have focused most of my drawing skills on portrait drawing. I am very familiar with drawing techniques and have spent many years perfecting my skill.

Painting

All my life I have been making art and have focused much of my painting skill on acrylic painting. In addition I have experience with watercolor and oil. I am very familiar with painting techniques and have spent many years perfecting my skill through trial and error. My experience makes me a great instructor for complete beginners. I give private art lessons and teach classes at an Arts and Crafts store.
