About Carole

With 25 years of experience, I offer qualifications and professional knowledge as a Classroom Teacher and School Librarian. I began my teaching career as a volunteer substitute teacher for the school that I was assigned to complete my student teaching, Holy Comforter Catholic School in Washington DC. I also have volunteer experience as a teacher in the Tree Of Life Class of the Children’s Church at Spirit Of Faith Christian Center Maryland.

My first salaried elementary teaching position was as a long term substitute teacher in the DCPS School System. For 3 years, I was a Middle School Language Arts Teacher in the urban Parochial Schools of the Archdiocese of Washington DC. I taught the intermediate level grades 6-8. I was then hired as a Permanent Certified Classroom Teacher in the urban DCPS School System. For 19 years, I gained experience in the primary and intermediate levels, teaching various grades from 1-6. For 3 years, I was an Elementary School Librarian/Teacher for grades, Pre School - 5. During this time, I was also a teacher tutor for the after school program.

My experience also includes Urban Classroom teaching at the elementary and middle school levels {PS-8} with culturally diverse students. I am proficient in all aspects of student affairs and community relations. In Leadership, I am a take-charge teacher, who was relied upon to spearhead projects through extensive planning, coordination, and strong organizational skills.

By combining a solid grounding in the academic material with a highly creative flair, I have been effective adapting the curriculum and modifying my teaching style to accommodate different ability and interest levels of my students, in both the classroom and online settings. I have been successful with both academically and behaviorally challenging students as well as with academically gifted students, and those in between.

I have a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education minoring in English/Language Arts at Long Island University's Southampton, NY Campus. During my tenure, I have continued to take graduate studies courses in education.

My Specialty is Elementary. I am available to tutor Pre-School - 6th Grade.
