This is a great opportunity to tap into my 10 years of experience as an outstanding French teacher, and my 26-year experience as French translator. I attended a one year course on the teaching of French as a Foreign Language organized in Cameroon by the Ecole Normale Superieure de Saint-Cloud in France. I am a native French speaker, and will help my students knock down their linguistic barrier and bridge the gap by acquiring much needed French. I have taught students of all levels, from elementary to college. I am a retired Department of State employee who served as translator at the US Embassy in Cameroon for 21 years. Prior to this, I worked as Translator-Administrative Assistant with WS Atkins International, a British Consulting Engineers firm, and with the British Embassy in Cameroon.
I received my Final Diploma in English specializing in French Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists, London in 1984, and my First Certificate in English from the University of Cambridge. I am also Member of the Institute of Linguists. I am fully bilingual in French and English and, with my high level linguistic capabilities, I better understand students' needs and better implement tutoring methods. My focus is on situational teaching, conversation, comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and writing.
I am an honest, patient, skilled tutor who is extremely quite, pleasant, friendly and easy to deal with, and a tutor who cares about students and willing to do all he can to help students learn the French language well and fast. This is a great opportunity to tap into my 10 years of experience as an outstanding French teacher, and my 26-year experience as French translator. Benjamin is a strong tutor. He was helpful in getting a sense of where I am at and the skills that I need to pick up before my trip to France. He held a conversation with me in French, taught me some helpful phrases terms, and grammaticisms, and charted a path for our ongoing lessons. I'll be a confident, stronger speaker for working with Benjamin this summer. Thank you Benjamin!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
