About Tina

Hi!

My name is Tina and I currently serve as an education consultant here in Washington, DC. I previously served as a secondary educator within the DC Public School system. I taught U.S. History and U.S. Government in addition to Algebra I, an A.V.I.D. study skills course, and hosted ACT prep workshops.

In 2008, I earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arkansas and in 2009, I earned an Ed.M in Teacher Education: History/Political Science from Harvard University.

I also served as the Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach and Student Government Association Advisor during my time as a teacher. I love playing tennis and watching basketball. Serena Williams and Kevin Durant are my favorite athletes and I am very involved in my local community. I serve as a volunteer for the Reading Partners program.

I am very patient and love teaching, tutoring, coaching and mentoring youth. I understand that different people require different teaching styles and techniques and am very happy to say that I am able to adjust to individual learning styles very well. Feel free to send me any questions you may have!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
