I've always had an itch to help others understand the intricacies of science, math, and engineering in the academic world. While at this point in time, I do not have any wish to pursue a teaching certificate, I would like to do what I can to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in the minds of those that are willing to try harder in those subjects.

My experience includes tutoring student athletes at my alma mater, University of Utah, where I graduated with a 3.38 GPA and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (as well as minors in Naval Science and Physics). During this time, I was a personal math tutor to two athletes and a physics tutor to one, as well as having open office hours for those with general math or science questions. As I only discovered this my senior year at the University, I only taught for my final semester; however, all of my students did very well in their classes and finals under my tutelage.

I have experience through Calculus III, partial and ordinary differential equations, basic computer science programming, dynamics/statics, mechatronics, thermodynamics, robotics, nuclear and particle physics, optical physics, and quantum physics. If you have a question as to whether I am able to tutor it, please send me a message and I will get back to you within a day.

I can provide supplemental teaching in most math, engineering, and science topics. I am also able to tutor multiple students at the same time, if scheduled beforehand, for a $10/hr increase per extra student. Homework may be assigned based on the student's knowledge level and if I believe the student needs more practice in the subject.

I am available most evenings after 5 pm and on the weekends and can travel to students. My base rate is $35/hour. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule an appointment!

Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have tutored in trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus at the high school and college level, including Algebra 2.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have taken math courses up to Calculus 3, ordinary differential equations, and partial differential equations at the college level
Physics,

Physics

I've taken courses in calculus-based mechanical and electrical physics, modern optics, quantum physics, and nuclear and particle physics, passing all courses. I have also been trained by the US Navy in the operation of a nuclear reactor, to include all theoretical physics interactions. My first career was being a nuclear submarine officer, which involved additional training to know all aspects of nuclear particle interactions.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Tutored precalculus in the past, and have taken mathematics in college up to Calculus 3, partial differential equations, and ordinary differential equations
Algebra 1, Calculus, SAT Math

Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

I have tutored some mechanical engineering as well as assisted one of the assistant professors at the University of Utah NROTC when teaching thermodynamics during the fall of 2011 and spring of 2012 (after graduation), respectfully. I graduated with a 3.38 GPA with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and will submit my official transcript if requested. I do not feel I am qualified to teach some of the higher level mechanical engineering classes that I did not do well in school in, but for all others (including statics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, basic computer programming, basic material science, and many more) I feel I am fully qualified and able to tutor.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

Thomas helped me understand statics. He is an effective tutor. I really appreciated his preparation and attention to detail. I was fuzzy on a lot of statics topics but he cleared them up.

Very Insightful and Helpful

Thomas helped with Thermodynamics which is complex. He helps to simplify it to simpler terms allowing others to both solve but ultimately understand why and how the problem is working. This has been very beneficial to me. I appreciate all of his help and his willingness to help others master complex material.

Energy Class

Thomas was the best tutor I had in a long time. He immediately worked through the problems, thoroughly explained them to me, asked me if i had any questions, and was really nice to offer me if I need help moving forward, I could always ask him a question. Thank you, Thomas!
