I hold both a BA and a MA in English. My fee is negotiable. I have spent the last 14 years teaching in a variety of non-traditional settings. I have homeschooled my 3 students from K to 12th grade and have begun the process of having them successfully launch to college. Although my formal education is in English, the homeschooling classroom has allowed me to teach Math, English, History, and Science at most grade levels. I've also worked one-on-one as a private tutor as well as a classroom teacher in the homeschooling co-op classroom. In the co-op setting, I've taught middle school and high school level literature and composition as well as leading literature discussion groups. During my graduate work, I was a teaching assistant for two years at the university. During this time, I taught English 100 level courses for freshman and sophomores.

They have also exposed me to numerous tools that can support students and move them further in their education. I also like to equip students in such a way that they transfer new skills, continually building on a foundation.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
