Last summer, I tutored independently for the first time since I was a member of Wilton High School. The tutoring sessions last summer were a success. One of my clients was eager to meet on a weekly basis to review topics such as the preterite tense, imperfect tense, subjunctive tense and the difference between por and para, among others. The atmosphere was calm and we worked together until she understood the various topics. Normally, I printed out various worksheets to work on and would ask her to complete the assignment for the next meeting. It worked out extremely well.
Also, as I have recently returned from my semester abroad in Sevilla, Spain, I feel confident when conversing with native speakers. While in Spain, I took classes about the history of Spain, current events in Spain, literature from the 18th and 19th centuries, and Spanish linguistics. In Spanish linguistics, I learned the "complex linguistic variety" of el Andalúz, that varied depending on the region of Andalucía, among other topics.
After taking the Spanish linguistics class in Sevilla, I decided to pursue Spanish linguistics as my major at Gettysburg College. As a result, next semester I am signed up for morfosyntaxis of the Spanish language. While I am not entirely certain of my career choice, I have a strong interest in being a translator for the U.S. government.
I look forward to working with you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native English speaker and am fluent in Spanish. I studied abroad in Spain for one semester during college, which improved my level of Spanish and appreciation for the language. Also, I have volunteered at an organization on campus where I would help native Spanish-speakers with their understanding of English. Therefore, I am very qualified in these areas.
