Mathematics tutoring with patience and clarity
Hello! I am finishing up my PhD in theoretical mathematics. On the way to this point in my life, I have been the beneficiary of a lot of intelligent and patient instructors who have showed me how to be a mathematician while instilling a love for teaching in me. I hope to pass that on through my own tutoring and teaching. Over the years, I have gained experience tutoring and teaching a wide range of students, from those trying to get through their last gen-ed mathematics course to those looking to go on to do graduate work.
I aspire to help students build confidence in their own abilities and show them how to self-correct and evaluate. Further, because a lot of mathematics courses can make things seem arbitrary and mysterious, I try to show why things work the way they do (as needed and as time permits). My ultimate goal is to put myself out of business by making it possible for my students to continue learning without my help.
University mathematics (undergraduate and graduate) I can help with include: College Algebra, Precalculus, Statistics, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Foundations of Mathematics, Differential Equations, Probability, Abstract Algebra, Topology, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Measure Theory, Algebraic Topology, Riemannian/Differential Geometry, Non-Euclidean Geometry (especially Hyperbolic Geometry), Elementary Number Theory, Partial Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems
I also tutor K-12 mathematics, including: Prealgebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus, AP Statistics
I am also willing to take a look at and help with problems and topics not explicitly mentioned above!
I asked Cameron to help me a Real Analysis course I was struggling with. We started meeting weekly after the midterm to review my homework and discuss the core concepts covered in lecture. Cameron, who has experience teaching a similar course, made for a great tutor. He was very patient and excellent at explaining the reasoning behind even the most difficult proofs in the class. With Cameron’s help I finished with an A in the course. Thank you again, Cameron!Ryan, 3 lessons with Cameron
Very knowledgable and patient tutor
Cameron is teaching me Multivariable Calculus. We are following the MIT OpenCourseWare curriculum. Cameron has always been knowledgeable about all the topics which we have covered so far. Cameron is also very patient with me and allows me to build my understanding from the ground up. Cameron helps me to make connections between concepts, and apply them synergistically to solve the psets. I am very happy with his teaching, and will definitely continue with him!Aditya, 6 lessons with Cameron
Super smart and nice
We went over advanced Real Analysis. Cameron is incredibly knowledgeable!!! Cameron stayed up until early morning hours tutoring me and did not complain. He prepared before our tutoring session and was able to pull properties from certain sections.Gabriella, 1 lesson with Cameron
Cameron was a huge help!!!!!
Cameron was such a big help! He knew how to explain all the problems perfectly and was really able to teach me the concepts and some tricks to remember the methods! I can’t recommend him enough!Monica, 3 lessons with Cameron
Awesome Math Coach
Cameron's passion and dedication towards Math and teaching is evident. I have been taking math lessons from Cameron for 6 months. We talked about various topics ranging from calculus to hyperbolic geometry and he can explain any of the concepts with ease.Chinmay, 16 lessons with Cameron
Super Genius and Funny
Anything I throw at Cam, he is able to help me with. He is so smart. The nice thing is he also is nice and funny so your tutoring session doesn’t feel like it is being dragged on and on forever with boring math.Rebekah, 23 lessons with Cameron
If you are a distance learner at any grade level (I’m at a master’s) and without a lab to help understand where you’re making mistakes and no clue as to how to get UNSTUCK, then I recommend Cameron because he helps foster your ability to critically work problems and make the mechanics crystalline clear. I will be his pupil as long as I’m in school 😬🤓Michelle, 4 lessons with Cameron
Very knowledgeable, He has lot of mathematical wisdom
I needed help in my Abstract Algebra Class and Cameron was able to guide me through the problems and understand what was going on super well. My topics were specifically commutative ring theory which is super abstract and tricky, but he was able to help me develop a better intuition while explaining difficult conceptsNicola, 8 lessons with Cameron
Great teacher! You will not find better than Cameron
Cameron really helped me understand the course material. He is patient, very knowledgeable. He is very friendly and professional. I like his teaching style because I can ask any questions anytime, whi h doesn’t derail the lesson and his explanations are easy to understand. He is very personable and he cares about your success story.Shana, 2 lessons with Cameron
Helpful, patient and also funny!
Cameron helped me learn about linear models and I got an A on the project I was assigned that he walked me through. He takes time to relate problems so I’ll understand them and also has a great sense of humor! I will certainly have Cameron be my usual Wyzant math tutor whenever I’m stumped.Naila, 2 lessons with Cameron
