People often ask me: "Sal, why do you teach?", and the 99.9% of the time my answer is the same: Because it's the only profession (in my opinion) where the daily reward is powerful, thought-provoking and in some cases life-changing. My love of teaching has spanned over ten years in and around the New Haven CT community and in the time I have taught inner-city youth to Ivy League-bound high-schoolers. I have helped countless students find a love of reading, or find their voice in their prose or poetry. I have helped students prepare for acting auditions (having been an actor myself for many years) and above all, I like to think that I have helped countless students find a confidence within themselves to challenge their belief of what is possible in terms of their education and their future growth and development as academics, actors, athletes ..... human beings.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
