University of Connecticut (Mechanical Engineeri)
I have a great deal of experience tutoring a wide variety of subjects.
I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, so my academic strengths tend towards mathematics and science. However, I'm also extremely competent with vocabulary and grammar. While in High School, I studied Latin up to college level, which has allowed me a much greater understanding of English grammar and the roots of our words.
I also have scored very well on standardized tests:
GRE - Math: 167/170, Verbal: 170/170
I can easily relay the strategies needed to go through standardized testing with greater problem solving efficiency. I have a great deal of experience tutoring a wide variety of subjects.

Christopher recently tutored me for a Linear Algebra class that I was taking online. I had not taken a math class in a few years and was rusty with some of the concepts that were needed to understand the material. He was able to explain how to do these concepts of College Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, and Calculus in a very clear and understandable manner. He was even able to explain some of these concepts more clearly than previous teachers I've had.
As the class progressed, some of the material went into a very advanced scope. Christopher was able to help me understand these concepts and in the rare case we came across a problem he could not understand how to explain to me right off the bat, he did research into the problem and was able to help me at our next tutoring session. Overall, Christopher is a very helpful tutor and I would highly recommend him as a tutor for anyone looking for help in math from the high school to college level.
Christopher V. tutored my son for 3 weeks / 6 hours before he took the SAT for the second time. Christopher was very smart and patient and worked well with my son. My son's score went up 260 points on the 2400 scale - a great improvement. The sessions were a very positive and worthwhile experience.
I have 2 younger teenagers and I hope to be able to have Christopher work with them before they take the SAT.
Christopher is a dedicated and patient tutor. He helps me understand new skills easily. He stays extra time until I understand fully the skill that we're working on. I am really getting the hang of physics and precalculus. We have worked on wave lengths and radians, triangle, area, logarithms, solving exponential equations, angles, and degree measures. I am making progress thanks to Christopher!
Great tutor. I enjoy working with Chris. He is very knowledgeable with the subject material and is able to describe what we are working on in a way that is easier to understand.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took AP Calculus in high school and scored a 5/5 on the BC exam. As a student of mechanical engineering I became even more familiar with Calculus, scoring A's in all calculus subjects, including Calculus 3 and Differential Equations.
Grammar: I studied Latin in high school and college; this has allowed me to become very adept at understanding English grammar.
Literature: While my favorite genre is Fantasy, I also tend to read and reread many classics that are commonly assigned to English classes. I am very skilled at interpreting them and identifying the key points.
Writing: During my previous job I was required to write multitudes of technical reports. I am very skilled with technical writing, and I can certainly help with analytic writing.
I am extremely good with basic algebra. Linear Algebra is more advanced, but can be approached easily if you understand the basics of matrices. I achieved an A in Linear Algebra when I took it in college.
As a Mechanical Engineer, I am extremely familiar with all types of Mechanical Physics problems. I am also familiar with the basics of EM Physics.
