Greetings! My name is Robert, and I am an educator with two Master's degrees. In addition to having been a graduate assistant, I have been in this field for more than 5 years, and have greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with many different students.

I have previously worked as a math instructor and a tutor for secondary and college-level students. Math is what I studied in college and is the subject that I am the most comfortable tutoring. However, I received a liberal arts education and can assist with other subjects such as Accounting, Computer, and Science.

I will work with you step-by-step and can also provide my own problems, although advance notice of what topics you would want to go over would be very helpful.

My current rate does include some preparation time as well as a stipend for travel expenses.

You can expect that the tutoring sessions will be completely professional and that each one will develop your understanding of the subject or subjects. Your satisfaction is guaranteed by both myself and WyzAnt. I have good availability, so there is no reason to hesitate. Please contact me right away to schedule a session!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Math

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

Differential equations require time and effort to master but they are essential to understanding of how mathematics underlies many real-world processes. To that effect, I will provide insights on separable equations, exact equations, integrating factors, and homogeneous equations. I will also help enrich that understanding with plenty of examples and applications, such as predator-prey systems. My college offered two different versions of differential equations. One course was more theoretical and the other focused on applications; I excelled in both. Furthermore, as a tutor, I have helped several college students perfect their understanding of the steps involved in setting up and evaluating such equations.
Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

I have had the opportunity to learn discrete math as part of my general math studies. In the past I have tutored discrete math at the middle school level as well as part of other tutoring assignments. My discrete math experience is primarily with linear programming and utility theory. I am also very interested in logic, probability, and game theory, with applications to computer science. Discrete math is a relevant and practical area of mathematics. Many real-world problems can be modeled using this area of math. Since it is at its core a straightforward examination of real situations, discrete math is the perfect subject for learners of every level and age. Linear programming, for example, is very useful when solving production and usage problems. Another topic is combination theory, which leads to the study of future possibilities and can be used from anything planning out diagrams to setting up a schedule of chores. As a discrete math tutor I challenge my students to learn about these core principles of mathematics in a way that is relevant to their life and surroundings.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

Linear algebra has been an important component of much of my education and teaching experience. It was one of my best subjects in college, and following that time, I have also had the opportunity to incorporate linear algebra as an educator. Classes I have taught that use this knowledge include business math and college algebra, both of which have involved some level of linear programming and matrices.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

Rob is fantastic! He is so patient and does an amazing job of breaking complex concepts down into smaller steps to make them easier to understand. Without Rob I would have struggled through my graduate-level statistics course.

Tutor responded:

Thanks so much for your kind words. Great working with you.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Rob has taught me to solve equations using both substitution and elimination. He has taught me compound interest, translations and reflections of graphing and lastly square roots and exponents.

It's my pleasure to work with you. I greatly appreciate seeing you develop as a student and as a person.

Calculus tutor

He is very smart and gets right to work. Its very refreshing finally finding someone who actually knows the work and knows how to teach it.

Little Distracted but overall informational and to the point

So I met Rob to discuss Calc. He is very knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. Be sure to ask him exact problems you need answer to because he himself isn't good at going over random problems. The only problem I had with him and was a big one for me is he constantly kept checking his phone. I think it was because he was trying to keep track of time but it could be anything like E-Mail but it was really distracting and impolite. There were times where I personally felt he was getting frustrated because I kept asking him the same question. But other than that this guy is awesome and very intelligent.

Tutor responded:

I'm glad that, in spite of your mixed ratings, you have chosen to continue meeting to discuss Calculus with me. I have done my best to assist you, and furthermore you know very well that I use my phone to do calculations. Getting used to technological aids is going to be important if you want to move forward in your chosen profession.

Knowledgeable and gets the material across.

Rob was my son's chemistry tutor. He changed schools and had 6 weeks of Chemistry to catch up on. Rob worked with him as much as he needed and my son received an "A" on the exam and work handed in. Very impressed by Rob.

Excellent tutor. He goes above and beyond to help my daughter. Eventually she is going to do very well in Math

He took his time to explain everything that I need to know. This will help me reach my goal. Also, I'll be more comfortable doing math.

Committed and Helpful Tutor

This was my second time with Rob. Our first time together he helped me salvage my grade in College Algebra although due to my putting off getting a tutor for so long I didn't get the needed grade to advance. So this summer I retook it and met with Rob early on. He helped prepare me excellently for my final two exams, quiz, and cumulative final. He is flexible, helpful, and committed to helping you understand your material.

Aidan, 12 lessons with Rob
Tutor responded:

Thank you, Aidan. It's always a pleasure to assist a student who is committed to success!

Very helpful and understanding.

He teaches in an understanding and easy way and he helped me accomplish basic and difficult subjects. He is very good and he can help with any thing and I do wish to keep him tutoring me for future subjects.
