Is your child a struggling reader? Or, is your child a reluctant reader or writer? If so, I am a CT certified teacher for grades K-6 that can help make a difference! As a child I always loved to read...and that along with writing was always a strength of mine. It's my goal as an educator to instill a love of learning in my students so that they too enjoy learning and feel confident within themselves. I have over 6 years of experience working with children from the ages of 3 to 15 years old. Three of those years have been working in the public school system. I have taught all subjects at the elementary level, and Language Arts at the middle school level. Pertaining to teaching reading, I am trained in and have administered various forms of reading assessments to determine individual student needs. In addition, I've worked with special education students and regular education students who are below grade level in reading, teaching phonics, fluency, and reading comprehension skills using various reading programs. I myself have always been a hands on learner, so I love to create hands on learning activities to engage students! I look forward to the possibility of making a difference in your child's life :)

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
