Hello. My name is Angela. I have been a substitute teacher for over 15 years for Kindergarten through twelfth grades. I am a certified teacher for grades K-6. I have gained much experience in teaching, not only form my various service learning opportunities, but also by being in a range of classes throughout my 15 years of substituting. I enjoy working with children and in helping them reach their potential. Starting when I was still working towards my certification, I had many opportunities to work one to one and in small groups to assist students reach their academic goals. I prefer working in these small groups because it gives each student more individual attention that is difficult to come by in most classrooms today. It has been my experience that just a little more individual attention, really boosts the success of the student. I love to watch the children I help to be more successful and confident in their learning. My favorite success story comes from when I was still an intern at an elementary school. I was able to help 2 second grade students by meeting 2-3 times a week, for twenty minutes. They went from minimal letter recognition to reading at a low second grade level in 7 months.
Here are some other things you might want to know about me. I am patient and have a great sense of humor. I enjoy music and art. I have been volunteering for my local fire department's annual fundraiser fair for over 29 years. I do face painting and balloon animals. I enjoy reading and writing. I love sports.
I love to read. I often get and give reading suggestions. When I read or hear of a good book, I am happy to pass on the suggestion. I have worked one to one with students on reading skills through my various experiences. Through substituting, I have ran reading groups and book circles.
I am a certified elementary school teacher. I have my Masters in Elementary education. I have been a substitute for over 15 years. I am up to date and familiar with the institution of Core Curriculum.
I have been teaching phonics since before I was certified. I have proctored many Phonics lessons through the Fundations program that the elementary schools use.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified Elementary school teacher for grades K-6 and I have my Masters degree. I have obtained my certification and Masters through Sacred Heart University. I have extensive experience that was obtained through various service learning opportunities and 15 years of substituting in the same school district.
During the year that I was an intern, I tutored and ran phonics and reading lessons for two second grade students during school hours. I both adapted lesson plans and created my own plans for teaching these students. During my 15 years of substituting, I have proctored many lesson plans using the Fundations phonics program.
I played softball from age 8 through my freshman year of college. I still enjoy watching and playing softball recreationally today. I have substituted as a Physical Education teacher many times and played softball in those classes.
During my 15 years experience of substituting, I have had to work one to one with students in study skills classes and assisted study hall classes. I have experience in developing good study skill practices. Working one to one and with small groups, I have encouraged the use of good study skills during my teaching experiences.
