I absolutely love teaching all students with special needs. I feel I am highly qualified and come with outstanding references. At this junction in my life I am looking for a change from the traditional public school,setting. I am creative, energetic, patient and always put my students best interest first. Part of my lessons revolve around life skills, no matter the age. All students need to acquire at an early age what it means to become independent, so that as years pass and the children begin to grow and mature, they have a basic understanding of what life skills are necessary for them to become successful, independent adults.
My expectations for each child is based upon individual,learning styles and I am full of knowledge as to what modalities and modifications best suit each child To ensure success and a willing to keep trying to the best of their ability. I don't personally set unrealistic goals, however, I do make sure that every child is encouraged to the best they can. I look for success in day to day performance, no matter how far the individual student has progressed. Every child can and will learn, it takes an extra special person to not give up and continue each and everyday to ensure learning is taking place
I have been involved with Special needs children, autistic students as well for as long as I can remember. I learned from my mom who was an educational assistant for 25 years. When I first enrolled at SCSU, I was unlike many of my peers. I was extremely confident in my career choice and I could not be happier with my decision
I have coached Unified Basketball at NLHs for the past 5 years. My team participated at a number of area High Schools and my athletes became friends with their partners. For the past two years we were lucky enough to play at half time at the Mohegan Sun during Basketball Championships! What a great opportunity for my team!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I coached Unified Sports Basketball through the CIAC and my team played at numerous schools and we often had the most awesome experience playing two years at Mohegan Sun for Basketball finals.
Cooking is an essential life skill for all students, young adults and for everyone. I like to use cooking to apply basic skills learned and to put all academics in a perspective that all students understand the importance of reading, following directions, math and the best is the finished product which makes learning all so much fun for all

As a resource is a perfect way to monitor student progress, as well as areas of weakness. My job as a Special educator is to best prepare my special needs students, no matter the age, to begin to learn what life skills are and to best prepare them for what liife after They turn 21. I concentrate on Functional academics, self help skills, leisure activities, pre vocational skills social skills and community based learning. Ages of the students play a major role as to how involved many of my day to day lessons are carried out. I follow the IEP's and work towards achieving and making progress on each goal and objective. My personality is very outgoing, patient, creative and I just absolutely love working with Special Needs students. They brighten my day, and I hope to be able to assist in your tutoring program
