Not only have I been in the English classroom, but have taught and tutored American History on middle and high school levels. I have a Masters in Distance & Adult Ed, and have broad-based experience creating curriculum studies for CAPT, SAT & CMT tests. Additionally, I have done private and district homebound tutoring for many years and have a record of success in bringing students up to speed in their studies. I look for YOUR strengths in designing material that suits your learning style. I'm friendly, have lots of energy,a great deal of patience, and have a plethora of experience and materials to assist students of any level and ability. I look forward to hearing from you and designing lessons that will make a huge impact on not only what you learn but HOW you learn...

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Special Needs

I am presently working as an English, American Studies and Culinary Arts teacher for an academic/therapeutic K-12 school that specializes in designing curriculum for clients with socio-emotional and learning disorders of every description. The program pinpoints differentiated instruction, as well as intervention techniques, to foster student success. We are regularly trained and up to date on the latest instructional techniques to serve special needs students. Additionally, I served as facilitator for 4 years at the Hillhouse Armory, a small community alternative high school. Also, I have directed various after-school, and 21st Century Grant programs that serve special needs students. I was a camp counselor for 2 years at a United Way overnight camp specifically serving special needs campers, and I was a programming caseworker in Massachusetts for 2 years at a home for autistic adolescents. I have a MA in Distance Learning and adaptive technologies. I have para-transit training and hold a PMT certificate.
