About Cassandra

Bio

I have 10+ years teaching and tutoring, but for the past 8 years, I've been teaching private piano and ukulele lessons to students, mostly young children. I perform often, both solo and ensemble.

Every student has their own interests and learning styles, and I find joy in facilitating the discovery and exploration of the student's own unique musical journey. I try to give students the freedom to follow their musical interests, while maintaining a structure that ensures steady progression...

Attended Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, where I took four years of ear training, sight reading, and theory. I then went on to get my degree in musical performance at Humboldt State University, where I continued these subjects for another 4 years. I have been playing and studying piano since I was a child, and I was also trained as a classical singer/performer from childhood through college. Anything else that I may lack in credentials, I make up for in experience.

Cheers,
Sandy :)

I've been playing piano my whole life. I studied piano in college, and I am constantly adding to my education through group classes, private instruction, and self study. I perform, compose, and teach piano consistently. I lean heavily towards jazz, but I also have a strong classical foundation, and I try to give my students a good classical foundation as well.

Ear Training,

Ear Training

I've studied musical performance in an academic environment for 8 years: 4 in a performance arts high school, 4 in college. In both schools, ear training/sight-singing was an important component to my education. I also tutored in ear training/sight-reading in college. Upon entering the professional world, I've had numerous acapella gigs with small ensembles. Being a professional level acapella singer requires strong ear training, sight singing, and pitch matching skills.

Music Theory

I've studied musical performance in an academic environment for 8 years: 4 in a performance arts high school, 4 in college. In both schools, music theory was an important component to my education. Music theory continues to be an essential part of my life as a professional performer and music teacher. I also have a sweet spot in my heart for music theory, and can nerd out about it for hours.
