University of Hartford (Early Childhood Education)
I graduated from University of Hartford with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and I am certified to teach PreK-grade 3. I currently work in the Hartford Public School district with Special Education students with moderate to severe disabilities. I love to see children learn and grow and know that I was able to make a difference in their grades! My goal is to help the child feel challenged while also beginning to feel competent in the material.
I try to be flexible with time as much as possible. I require a 24-hour cancellation policy, but will be more than happy to reschedule with you for makeup classes.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your child achieve success in school! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am majoring in Early Childhood Education at the University of Hartford and will have my Bachelor's degree and teacher certification in May 2014. I attended NCCC for my Associate's degree and completed one year of student teaching there. I have also done several other field experiences such as tutoring 4th graders in reading and math, tutoring kindergartners in reading, math and writing, and I currently work in Torrington Public Schools as a substitute paraprofessional. I will be student teaching in the primary grades from January-May 2014.
Along with my early childhood education qualifications, I have always been very good at grammar throughout my life.
I have been cross stitching for 4 years now and I do very intricate designs. I can do anything that is desired. I have made a "grandparents" decoration, a birth announcement which took me 6 months, a Christmas stocking which took 10 months (very intricate), and a winter cabin and aurora scene which took 13 months (627 hours) at a completed size of 15.5"x12" - it is extremely intricate and awes everyone who sees it. I am currently working on a piece with a dolphin scene, completed size 16"x21". I will be more than happy to send them to you through contact!
Along with my early childhood education qualifications, I have successfully passed the CT Foundations of Reading test, which is a state requirement indicating sufficient knowledge in the teaching of reading to students.
