As a 2013 graduate of Fitchburg State University, I graduated with a dual major of Special Education, Moderate Disabilities, grades PreK-8 and Elementary Education, grades 1-6. I earned my degree on graduation night with Cum Laude Honors. Throughout my college career, I had the privilege to work with experienced teachers who mentored me during my work in variety of classrooms for my pre-practicum and student teaching experiences.

I worked at a private daycare for almost two years. I worked as a full-time teacher in the Toddler, Preschool, and Pre-K rooms. These positions allow me to provide my students with the tools and resources needed to master basic skills before going to the next classroom. I am challenged daily to be creative, understanding, nurturing and most important, patient. Through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care I am a Certified Lead Teacher for Preschool and Pre-K and a Certified Teacher for Infants and Toddlers. I also completed trainings to become certified and have my "HEARTSAVER PEDIATRIC FIRST AID CPR AED" card.

I was also an Educational Assistant in the P.A.S.S. (Positive Academic Social Support) room at a Middle/High School, working with students in the 6th- 9th grades. It is an incredible learning experience for me as each student that is in my room is unique and has different learning needs, speaking abilities, and cognitive levels. It is wonderful to be able to learn how each student functions and what I need to do to successfully work with them.

My teaching and working experiences in a number of different classrooms and multiple ages, have truly taught me the value of patience and encouragement in all classrooms, but especially in the special education classroom. I work closely with each student, providing the individualized support and praise they require to be successful in all activities and academic areas. I also make sure to stay connected with my co-teachers and my student’s parents/family members, to encourage the success of each student, both in and outside of the classroom. I’ve truly appreciated and learned from every child and every family I have worked with; I cannot imagine having any other job.

I would love to have an opportunity to work with children, sharing what tips I know that helped me with my homework or study for tests, that have kept me successful in all of my years of schooling. If I can use the students materials to work through a problem together, I think that it would be a great learning experience for the both of us. I am also willing to create tests or quizzes for a student to help them furthermore test their knowledge of the material, before they take the test in school. I think that creating a new test for a student to take really does help them focus in on what they know and what they don't know. I think that it will also give them the chance to use other "materials" other than the ones from class and their textbook.

I have just graduated on December 20th from Fitchburg State University with a dual license in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities) grades PreK-8 and Elementary grades 1-6. During my last semester of school (fall 2013), I completed 2 different student teaching stations, each for 8 weeks. My 1st station I was in a 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade resource room in which I taught both 2nd and 3rd grade reading through a reading program known as "Fundations". The one 1st grader in the class, I worked one on one with for both reading and math. I also taught 3rd grade math. For my second station, I was in a 3rd grade general education room, in which I taught all subjects. These included math, science and social studies, writing, Fundations, and reading.
