I am a special education teacher certified in grades pre-k to grade 12. I taught for thirteen years. I have a bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and have a master's degree in Language Learning Disabilities. I am experienced in specialized reading programs, particularly Wilson Books 1-6 and LiPS. I also have a Speech/Language background which enhances my skills in the reading programs. I have seen success ranging from minimal to major in the tools that I use. I am currently using Wilson and LiPS with students I tutor and have seen success with each student.
Writing is also an area where I have seen success with students. I had training in several writing programs which I use with students I tutor. I focus primarily on adding detail to their writing. Other areas which are also addressed in my lessons are writing effective topic and concluding sentences, adding transition words, expanding vocabulary, and adding unusual words in their writing.

The first hour is $50. Each additional hour needed for tutoring during the same week would be $40.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified special education teacher who was worked with students on the autism spectrum since 2008. I have seen success with each student I worked/work with. I understand that patience is key. Autistic students need to feel comfortable in their environment. I make sure these students feel this way and are able to accomplish the task at hand.
